Throughout her early life, Jordanna (Jivani) found herself drawn to the music, art, philosophy, culture and spirituality of the East, and upon beginning yoga practice in 2000, she sensed she had found an invaluable treasure. This was the beginning of a life-long pursuit of the study, practice and teaching of yoga.
Jivani first became a yoga teacher in 2005 after taking the Dhyana Yoga teacher training in Philadelphia. Subsequently, she trained in Yin Yoga and in 2007, she became a Jivamukti Yoga teacher after studying with her beloved teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life. Since then, Jordanna has completed an 800-hour certification in Jivamukti Yoga, apprenticing under Narayani (Nicole Nichols) and later became an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Also, she completed a three-month Bhakti Sastri (devotional scriptures) program in India, and recently took spiritual initiation from H.H. Radhanath Swami who gave her the name Jamuna Jivani devi dasi (“The servant of the life and soul of Yamuna River”).
Jivani is a senior teacher based in New York City where she teaches classes, workshops and teacher trainings. Keeping with tradition, her classes offer a well-balanced practice of asana, hands-on assists, mantra, meditation, pranayama and philosophy. Her classes are inspired by scripture and devotional practices and are accompanied by a diverse mix of elevating music. She draws infinite inspiration from the students who attend her classes and her teachers who have blessed her to teach.
